The other night, my oldest daughter hosted a surprise going-away party for one of her dearest friends. Shea's spending the year abroad studying in Belgium.
Maggie determined the menu and the sisters helped set the patio for the festivities. The afternoon was spent making killer chocolate cupcakes with marshmallow frosting from scratch with her sweet friend Nicole. I'll have to see if she'll share her recipe.
It was an absolutely perfect evening with temperatures in the low sixties. Just right for a bonfire.
Shea is the oldest of four sisters and seems so mature for sixteen. She's so smart, sweet, and kind. My daughter has truly been blessed by their friendship.
Saying goodbye is tough, but as the girls start the latter half of their high school career, it'll become an all too familiar refrain.
Gracie posted a few pictures on her Instagram account...

they make the latitudes and longitudes. ~Henry David Thoreau
We can't wait to hear all about your fabulous adventure, best of luck sweet Shea!

What a special going-away party. Sounds like the perfect evening with friends.
What a special evening that you all put together. We have hosted over 15 exchange students from several different countries and have enjoyed the exchange and the memories made. I am sure she will have wonderful things to share with your daughter while she is abroad!!
Have a great rest of the week!!

Such a sweet party! Love all the pretty decorations! xo Heather
Looks like it was the perfect evening for a party. (Isn't it fun to have kids old enough to plan their own parties?) What an exciting adventure and wonderful opportunity to become fluent in French. :-)

Perfect summer party for young ladies. As always, so love your coordinated, consistent and "happy" colors. Your yard appears to be so beautiful. Glad to see you post again; busy summer with your family, of course. Now, school starts!
...so lovely.....what dear friends!
Such pretty decorations. I'm sure the party will be remembered for a along time!

I scrolled back through your posts I have missed. Your island photos were gorgeous, your girls are growing so fast. They tend to do that...too quickly! Enjoy them. Daughters are a wonderful blessing from God!!
I hope you are having a lovely day, sweet Molly

Pretty decorations and place for a party. Sad to say goodbye but it sounds like she will return, with tales of adventures to share.
Your daughter looks so sweet.....and I love your feed sack quilt! I'm finally back in the swing of things.....
So happy you found a set in such good shape! I love mine. The idea of using the bud vases as candel holders is such a great idea! I have those candles from CK too! I will be looking at all of the thrift store for three of those vases now...:) I can usually see them for about 1.00 each...:) Your party looked wonderful too!
this is just darling! i think you may be the most amazing mom out there...your influence truly shows in your sweet daughters and their equally sweet choices in friends. i hope my maggie grows up to be as lovely as your girls!
