She turned her can'ts into cans, and her dreams into plans...
But first, she had to get out of bed.
I love the winter holidays, but I find them a little on the exhausting side. Maybe, it's a touch of the post-holiday blues. The only known cure, in my opinion? Getting busy, really busy.
The girls went back to school today, even Rosie. She's been out of school since October. She's still on the mend, but desperate to jump back into things. I miss her (and her sisters). My parents have flown the coop, for a three month sojourn in the sunshine. Lucky ducks. In one of my patented distraction maneuvers, I've decided to take everything out of the closet and give it a good 'going-through'. The last time I did this, I inadvertently gave a brand new pair of jeans (which I rarely buy for myself) to the charity thrift. Do you know what brand they were? 'Lucky', in my case, we'll call them 'Not-so Lucky'.
What are you working on this week?

Hello Molly I wish you and yours a beautiful new year full of joy and lovely things.....x
As the alarm was going off at 5:50am this morning, I was wishing for a longer holiday break. It's been so much fun playing with the girls instead of rushing out of the house. I'm already counting down the days until the weekend. Have fun being extra productive at home. I hope Rosie's day back at school was a happy one.
So glad to hear Rosie is well enough for school...I bet she missed it! Oh...cleaning closets...I need to do that but it's been so pretty here that I've been outside gardening since Christmas!!
I was missing the girlies so much too today. We woke up to snow and really cold temps.
I am so glad Rosie was ready to head back to school.

Well I, for one, am sitting reading blogs while wearing the exact slippers in the first photo! :) Oh, and is that a Calico pattern shirt in the third one?! I have a little collection of Calico jugs and plates. And don't even get me started on your Christmas table Cath Kidston lovliness... :)
I cleaned and vacuumed the house I'll hit the toilets in the morning....and now I'm drinking tea and checking in on my favorite blogs....only a few more hours and their back home......I can find January depressing especially are extreme cold temps yuck!!
enjoy your day also....
I've been pretty busy in fact. Been in a cleaning mood after all the festive days. Work is always slowing down a bit between Christmas and Newyear, so now I have a lot to catch up. I had piles of washing and of course ironing afterwards. Still have to do some. But I consider myself lucky; no worries about winter blues, just too busy. I plan on do a little more baking also; some 'lukken' for my grandmother I still have to visit in the new year and of course a cake or pie for jan 6th (Driekoningen=Three kings, don't know if you celebrate this?) The kids are still home until next monday when school starts again and then I can start on putting away all the Christmas decorations again too and really get this year started.
Wishing you a busy, blues-free, happy Newyear,
bye,
Marian
Looking forward to getting all the Christmas away & sewing for my booth.!
Loving your polka dot sheets with those gorgeous roses. I am having a hard time getting going since the holidays. Need to sew, but it feels like Spring outside (very unusual for us) and all I can do is think about gardening. lol! I set a bag out for charity pick up today and thought that I would go through my closet and have more, but it didn't happen. Sad about your jeans. I had a neighbor once that gave her hubby's white jeans (saved from the White Lightening era of John Travolta) to charity. Only to find out when he came home that in the pockets what where he saved money. There's some expensive jeans!
Sounds like a good thing to do...I love January clean up! Thank you for all the sweetness and friendship in the past year. Your blog always makes me smile.
Oh and I adore your CK slippers...lucky girl!

I do so much better on a schedule and tomorrow my schedule begins again. I must say...I could get a lot done in those sweet Cath slippers though! Smiles...Renee
Just getting started putting away all of the Christmas things ... that always seems to take a while.
I'm working on adding touches of green to my decorating scheme.

Oh I am so Happy to hear that Rosie is doing well enough to make it to school... I would LOVE to trade places with you... We are still in the HIGH 80s temp why's and I would love to be able to enjoy the WINTER cold... :)
Oh, yes...on New Years Day, I found myself incredibly blue. I very, very rarely get this way and if I get upset it's for good reason. On this day, I had no reason to feel blue but I did. Enough to cry and enough for my sweet husband, who wasn't feeling well, to take my little one out of the house for a while to give me a break. And that's all I needed...a little break and a little boo-hoo and I was good to go. It also helped that the next day Stella went back to school and my husband and I went on a much needed day date to lunch and the movies.
Hope your feeling the sunshine today! And happy to hear miss Rosie is feeling better and better. xo
fighting the blues...and avoiding starting back at work! (hence still here)
It's not so much that I don't want to work (have lots of ideas for valentines blocks) just that my workshop will take about a week to tidy after the christmas rush. And I'm in no rush to tidy!
Still have #1 at home til monday so maybe leave it til then....fee♥
(hope R has a good first day back)
Those slippers sure are sweet, Molly!
I usually struggle with depression in the winter because of lack of light and getting outside but this fall was mild and sunny and so far, the winter has been, too! Yes, stay busy but maybe you could try getting outside more, too. I'm sure it would help.
I was able to give one of my bracelets away to my waitress at lunch one day! It made her day and mine, too! Thanks again! ♥
What is it about the new year that makes us all want to clean and re-organize? I too am starting my year of re-organization and de-clutter. Love your blog, always so cheery. Happy New Year!!
Lovely pictures :)!
hey hey!! this is a very nice website here and I just wanted to comment & say that you've done a great job here! Very nice choice of colors & layout, very easy on the eyes.. Nicely done!…
Love your blog, so colorful! I'm at work, ordering new books for the library! Fun job. :)
Hi Molly,
You can even make organizing closets look beautiful! Such a pretty array of colorful shirts. The slippers are so sweet, the roses and polk-a-dots on the bed are too!
The grandchildren are still out of school here for one more week. They didn't go on Christmas break until right before Christmas. I still don't have the tree put up, or things in order. I will have to resign myself to delaying some of the organizing until next week!
Happy New Year! Great news that Rosie is getting better!
xoxo...Gloria
Happy, peaceful, creative New Year to you! Those January blues are a little inevitable I think. I for one am not a New Year's Eve celebration girl. However the promise of a new slate to write on is so enticing.
My mind is bursting with creative projects although right now I am knitting a cardigan for my dearest eldest daughter.

January is such a great month for decluttering, isn't it? Our weather has been so nice that I've been out working in my flower and vegetable beds the past few days :)
Blessings,
Marcia
I think "Lucky" is the name for the person that found your jeans in a thrift store. :)
I've been busy trying to add color to my life during this "brown" season. I started with my living room and kitchen and now I've carried it over into my blog.
I love your cheerful shoes and sheets! Color always makes me feel good!
