Emptying a home you've lived in for almost forty years is a fair bit of work.
My parents recently sold their home, and are relocating to a smaller space with a more workable floor plan. Hence, the need to cull and sort.
We're discovering all kinds of forgotten treasures. Some, more exciting than others.
This little cup and saucer planted with vintage glass beaded flowers is marked France on the bottom. Dusty, rumpled and a little bit neglected looking, it was spotted lurking in the corner of her pretty French country china cabinet. She recalls it might've been a baby gift...
My mom isn't really interested in keeping dusty mementos. She's all about moving forward and looking ahead to new adventures. Not being weighed down by possessions. There's definitely something to be said for this philosophy. As somewhat of a magpie, I definitely like collecting certain things. But maybe it's time to realize less is more?
If this little bouquet speaks to you, tell me about it. I'll be happy to send it to you.
Points given for 'fancifulness'.

I'm just grateful they found a house they love, and thrilled they'll be in much closer proximity.

Oh I agree that less is more. After raising my girls and since my husband passed away 9 years ago now. That is my mantra lol.
I would love to have those adorable vintage flowers. If it says France underneath that would even be more a plus.I would put them in some china I have from Singapore.Oh they would look lovely.
I dont know how fancy my words were but there they are, blessings!
Less is more is a motto I have adopted. After years of buying things and receiving gifts our house is full!
Isn't that SWEET, I LOVE vintage beaded things.. I collect vintage beaded fruit...I always think..WOW somebody took A LONG time doing that...
The beaded flowers are so lovely. I don't know that I have ever seen anything like them.
I must say your mom and my mom are cut from the same cloth. I kinda follow my mom's philosophy as well. I am not much of a saver.
Hugs dear one
Dear Lovely Beaded Fleurs de France,
Roses are red, diddle diddle,
Violets are blue
Won't you please come to Kansas, diddle diddle?
We hope you do.
Much love,
Garden of Daisies
PS- Must get along well with daisies, zinnias, sunflowers and other common field flowers as they are frequent visitors to this establishment.
PSS- Please don't be afraid of the lady in the picture with the blue face... she only wears that look once a year.
PSSS- I don't think the cats will try to eat you, but if they do, just poke them with one of your wires.
PSSSS- Kansas is warmer than Illinois. You will like it here.
Most definitely needs to find its way to Miss Gayle's. She has the most lovely collection of cups and saucers in all shades of blue. I must tell you that I have a similar cup my best friend brought home to me from a trip to the coast of France. Some of the most beautiful pottery...It is rather nice here in Kansas...Smiles...Renee
Garden of Daisies definitely deserves this beaded bouquet. Her lovely verse just can't be beat.
Hugs!!
Those remind me of my late grandma's perfect flowers; she always managed to get her little flowers to bloom in the one sunny place she had in her apartment. Always in a sweet bowl or cup! I went through the downsizing when my parents moved South to be with me and my little one. I went with the less is more when I moved into our forever cottage a year ago. I now only collect the one's that speak to me; a little rough to only look but good for my purse! Thanks for sharing, Kris
The beaded flowers looks so cute! Thanks for sharing at BC Good Life Wednesdays.
We are cleaning my mom's house now so she can downsize since my dad has passed. I found it so painful to start, but once we did, we all laughed and talked about our memories and knew daddy was laughing with us. This is an adorable bouquet of beautiful memories from the past .. one that should be treasured from anyone receiving it. We have a few treasures we found (old photo's from 1800's). My dad's grandfather came over on a boat from France. I cherish vintage items .. especially from France. It would be loved and displayed proudly in my home along with a few other vintage French items I have.
Good luck with your parents! Bless them in their new home!
I just love your blog and pretty pictures! And you're right, emptying your parents home is work and also a little sad! I found myself not wanting to move mothers things, I wanted everything to stay the same, but I knew that it couldn't. I'm glad you looked on the bright side. :)
Hi there, it's a hard job downsizing, especially when it is a parent. I'm sure that you found many more "treasures" as you rolled back the layers of memoris. I found and am now following you through Show And Tell Friday, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris
Glad your parents will be nearer to you... I've been in my house 20 years and am going through things like crazy this fall. Not ready to let it all go, just trying to keep things under control so it's not so crazy when we do move on to another place. Thanks for linking up to Share the Love Wednesday!
