moda home give-away

Severe heat and humidity rolled into town for the week.
In the house, blinds closed, air conditioning... on.
Cold drink in hand, I decided the July doldrums can only be alleviated with a colorful give-away.

So, I picked up some items from Moda Home's Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread line just for you...
Including, Nana's Sewing Box. Every sewer needs a sewing box. Why not a cute one, tricked out in a sweet calico and trimmed with rick-rack and buttons?

Next, we have Nana's Crocheted Potholders, fun and functional, my favorite combination. In my opinion, they're a necessity in the kitchen.

Last, but not least, a set of ten reproduction Floral Hankies. Perfect for making a hankie garland, framing in an embroidery hoop, wrapping party favors, or any project you can dream up.

And yes, this is open to my international friends, too. We all need a little color in our life, especially at this time of year. To enter, leave a comment telling me a favorite summertime memory. If you're a follower, feel free to remind me, for a second chance. I'll randomly select the winner, Monday, July 25.

I'm crossing my fingers for you!

My favorite summer memory: taking the train to my Grandparent's home. I LOVE trains :) The conductor would take our little hands and help us into the train. Getting a drink was great fun too and we would have a new coloring book to color in on the trip!
Thank you for having this giveaway.

What a pretty give away! My favorite Summer memory is
going to the Adirondacks with my family. My dad would take each of us, one at a time, fishing each morning-it was so peaceful on the lake, just sitting in the boat, listening to the sounds of nature. I still love that! Oh, I'm a follower also. Have a good day!

A favorite memory.....I was a little girl and the local grocery store ( in those days we didn't have supermarkets) lost their electicity. So they invited all the neighborhood kids to come eat all the ice cream in the case since it was going to melt anyway. Now that was one happy day!!!!

What a cute give-a-way! Let's see...a favorite summer time memory. I guess it would be as a kid growing up in the 1950s well before A/C. I remember my Dad would place the fans all over the house, close the drapes hoping that would help to cool things off. Going to bed with just a sheet on the bed with the fan placed at the end of the bed. I know my Dad was sooo happy when he finally got A/C in our house in the late 1960s. It's hot here in southeast Pennsylvania USA this week....high 90s F. degrees and even hitting 100 F. degrees this Friday they say. So glad we have A/C!

I am a follower too!

OH-you are so generous! I think one of my favorite summertime memories was made just last night...sitting in a chair on the lawn watching my husband blow bubbles for my tiny little girl to run around and try to catch. I love being a mom!

My favorite summer memories are in bits and pieces. At this age my memory isn't all that great. I remember my dad listening to baseball games on the radio and that was my first clue that summer was on it's way. Sunny days at the lake learning to water ski, catching fireflies, fireworks on the 4th, etc., etc.
Great giveaway!

Oh, I love all your pretty little things and would love to win! And I am also having July doldrums- way too hot here in Texas!

My favorite childhood summertime memory... well, my family used to go camping at the beach in Southern California. The year that I was about 10 or 11, my sister was about 11 or 12. I was a kid and she was a teenager. She would spend her time tanning and putting on make-up and reading romances. I spent all my time climbing rocks and hiking up the river bed and playing in the waves. I never cared a bit about boys or how I looked. I was also very aware that my childhood was going to come to a close and I was making a choice to enjoy that summer as a girl. Wish I could be that carefree now!

My favorite summer time memory is building tree houses with my cousins! We would go around gathering up scrap pieces of plywood, 2x4's, hammers and nails. Then go out to the big oak tree on the backside of their property. We'd build and add to it every summer. We'd go out there and just hang out and talk. It held us up and there are still some remnants of the tree house still in that tree today.

My favorite summertime memory...hmmm there are quite a few. I think I'll choose, sleeping on the screened in porch with my cousins in our crisp white nightgowns on grandmas wicker furniture one particularly hot summer night. The upstairs of her farmhouse was so very hot without a/c and the air wasn't moving! After the adults went to bed my cousins and I were so tempted by the fireflies floating by that we got up to catch some of them! You can imagine my grandmas surprise when she heard her granddaughters running through her garden late in the evening giggling with their glowing treasures. We were eventually put back to bed but had the best nightlights beside us! There are so many more memories but since my grandma is no longer with us this one would be my favorite! Thanks for the giveaway...I've been a follower and you have been on my sidebar for a while now! Happy summer days! Dee

Ooooh what gorgeous delights................okay so really slim chance, but would be so silly of me not to enter! My best summer memory, well I have a few, but I loved staying with my grandparents in the summer holidays. My brother and I would get up really early, still in our nightwear, we would put on wellies and go to the end of the garden where there was a big stream and get our nets and fish. My nan would call us in to breakfast, which would be boiled eggs and soldiers and there would always be a pack of pens at the side to draw faces on them before we bashed them open! Then straight back out to the stream with our nets. I cherish those memories. x

I still adore good perfumes now! xx

Oh Boy! Count me in! Too many memories of summer to count, but I love thinking about when our now-adult girls were little ones, playing in the water on the shores of Brewster, Cape Cod. My best memories are of riding my bike to the Rio Grande from my home about 10 miles away. My friend and I would stop by an old ladies house and buy gorditas that she would sell out of her split back door. We would then sit on the bank of the river and watch the water flow by. Of course I would never allow my children to do such a thing now. What a great era I grew up in.

My favorite summertime memory is probably "camping" with my younger brother in the fort my father had built for us. My happiest summer memory is from when I was 8 yrs old. I was the lucky grandkid who's turn it was to go visit Nana and Papa for a week in July! My Nana was the best cook ever and always made my favorite foods for me. But my Papa had the best way of spoiling me and that was playing with me. He was just like a big kid. We played cards by the hours, tossed the soft ball, and dug in his garden in the evenings. I can still see a picture of my 62 year old Papa sitting in a kiddie boat at Joyland chasing me around the pond while I drove my own "speed boat". He barely fit in the boat his knee were up to his ears and he drove the boat full throttle! Two weeks later my Papa was diagnosed with stomach cancer and went onto the hospital. He pasted away in October of that year. I feel so fortunate to have had this special summer with him!

Hi. I think my favorite summer memory was going "downhome" with my grandparents as a child. They would take us to the small southern town they came from and we would visit all the different farms and small town homes of all the relatives. I remember my dad's cousin was mayor of one of the small towns. I loved being at the farms and surrounded by these country people. I believe being in this glorious country atmosphere with the wonderful women as they did their crafts and homemaking had a huge impression on me and this is what shaped my interest in gardening, quilting, crocheting, etc. Sadly one visit my grandad was thrown by a horse, and a few days later died from complications. I remember it all so well. That ended our visits "downhome" except for a couple with my parents. They were wonderful memories though, and I wouldn't give them up for anything.
I also remember my parents taking us to a local lake and swimming. I remember the warm breeze and the seaweed along the shore, and the smell of the lake, and digging my toes into the sand as I looked out onto the water. Wonderful wonderful memories. Please enter me in your give-away contest. Those Moda things are fabulous. Love their vintage-inspired items. Please come visit me at my blog, Ric Rac and Polka Dots. I'm pretty new, but have lots of fun things planned to share. I hope to see you there!

Molly, I LOVE all the pretty things in the giveaway! But I probably should not be entering, because I won the last one. One of my favorite memories was when our family stayed for a few days at a beach cottage in Washington, with my Grandparents and all my Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Yes, all of us, in one cottage. We pretty much slept head to toe but that didn't matter. During the day we search for driftwood and shells, ate rainbow colored salt water taffy, smashed into each other on the bumper cars, went up to our knees in the cold north Pacific water and then ran screeching for the warm sand and seaweed. At night my uncle from England sang, and my aunt taught us kids how to do dances from the 20's and 30's. All the people I loved most in the world, together, in one place, having a marvelous time. Wonderful memory.

my favorite summer memory would be the year we moved into a house we had had built for us. this was back in the EARLY 60's. we had never had air conditioning before. i was in the 1st grade and school didn't have it or church. that first summer was like magic to my brothers and i. we could play as hard as we wanted out doors and then run in and stand over the register and wait for the air to come on. it gave us goose pimples. ahhhh the deliciosness of it.

My favorite summer memory by far was the annual company picnic at Geauga Lake in Aurora, Ohio back in the 70's. The picnic was hosted by the City of Akron. My dear grandmother was a school crossing guard for almost 50 years, so every year our ENTIRE family loaded up the Chrysler and went to Geauga Lake. Geauga Lake was a wonderful amusement park with a wooden roller coaster, a real midway, the log ride and a giant carousel. Well, it seemed giant at the time. Gramma would start cooking and baking the day before the picnic - Toll House bar cookies, ham sandwiches, fried chicken, potato salad, macaroni salad, chips, lemonade. We went early to get a good place in the pavillion to set up and away we went. My favorite ride was the boat ride that went through a canal and had a gunfight and animals and other wonders that would amaze any child. I can smell her chicken now. I can see the lights of the rides at night. I can feel the spray of water on the log ride. Thank you for the opportunity to return to my favorite summer memory and a chance to win your vintage, summery goodies. Much love, Lori

I love the summer and some of my most favorite times have been spent in our backyard BBQing with friends and family. I love to watch the kids run around and play and have fun! Thanks for your fun giveaway!
